A Gift from Leno Was Enough to Endorse Everton Win over Arsenal

April 24, 2021by Samuel Salimon

An own goal from Bernd Leno was enough to gift Everton all three points over Arsenal, an on-field reprisal after off-field swings from Everton.

We mentioned in yesterday’s publication that there’s a possibility that Mikel Arteta might choose to rest his key players for a semi-final bout against Villarreal in Europa League next week.

This win makes it the first away win for the Toffee in 25 years. Along with these lines, their first-historically speaking win at the Emirates Stadium.

Besides, this makes it the first run through Everton have done twice over their rivals (they won 2-1 at Goodison Park in December) since the 1985/86 season.

At the moment, Everton sits in the eighth position with 52 points and a game in hand – leading Arsenal at ninth position with 46 points.
