Are LIVERPOOL officially in a CRISIS?

21 February 2021by Samuel Salimon

Although Liverpool FC of England is the current champions, their performance still has not been close to a winner. After winning the league in style last season, many people thought Klopp and his boys would likely retain the title.

However, they currently sit in 6th position with 25 games played.

One of the most impressive things about Liverpool was how teams feared to visit Anfield. This resulted from their brilliant record at home, stretching to over 50 matches without a loss. That record and fear factor seems to have left the Reds.

The Derby loss to Everton is their fourth loss at home since the turn of the year, and this has resulted in the defending champions scrambling to enter the top four.

Asides from losing to current leaders Manchester City, the calibre of teams that have picked up maximum points at Anfield in the past weeks begs the question of how Liverpool are now a shadow of their former self.

Home losses to lowly placed Burnley and Brighton are not the sort of results you should expect from the English Premier League defending champions.

Their latest loss is to local rivals Everton who had not won at Anfield in 22 matches, to make matters worse. No doubt, losing three first-choice CBs and a cover like Fabinho was always going to affect the team. But no one thought it could be this worse.

Van Dijk is not due back until May, while Matip and Gomez’s duo are ruled out of the season. The recent arrival of Kabaq to the backline has not made things better, and the team looks short of ideas in attack.

Do you agree that Liverpool is officially in a crisis?
