Two of the best cricketing nations, India and England, go head-to-head tomorrow, as England’s tour of India begins with the test series.
The Indians are carrying forward the confidence of their amazing test series win against Australia, which shook the whole fanbase of the sport a few weeks back. On the other hand, England, under their stellar captain Joe Root, who will play his 100th test tomorrow, performed exceptionally well in Sri Lanka. A series sweep away from home is a great morale booster for any team and the viewers know that the visitors are going to try the same, in India.
But the Indian team has a great record of winning tests in their conditions, and with the return of their skipper Virat Kohli, the competition is just going to get more exciting. Moreover, their bowling line-up will also be fresh with Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma back in it. They will lead the attack, against the solid batting line-up of England, led by their experienced campaigner Joe Root.
Amidst the social distancing concerns, it is also suspected that spectators might be allowed for the second test, which will be played in Chennai. However, the first test will be played behind closed doors. Moreover, due to travel restrictions, there will be no neutral umpires for the first two series. Nitin Menon, the only elite category umpire, will take charge alongside Anil Chaudhary and Virendra Sharma, who are debutants.
The competition will be enticing and it will also decide, which team will go ahead and play against New Zealand, in the final of the World Test Championship.
