As it happened in the second test, India are now level with England at 1-1. Right from the toss, India were on the top and, it was a massive toss to win.
While batting first, the Indian batsman made sure to set up a massive total that would support them throughout the course of the match. Rohit Sharma was impactful and his brilliant innings of 160 runs, helped the team in setting up a total of more than 300 runs.
The pitch got worse after the first day and, the England batsmen had to toil hard. But the Indian spinners outclassed them and got their innings summed up quickly. Ravichandran Ashwin’s elegant century then helped India set up a massive target of 421 runs, which looked nearly impossible on the deteriorating Chennai pitch.
As soon as the Indian spinners got the ball, they started chipping away and Joe Root was the only player who turned out to be resilient. However, he got out soon. And after that, the Indian team never really looked back. England were all out for 164, which helped India in winning by 317 runs and levelling the series.
The competition is just getting better and, next up is the most awaited day-night test match in Ahmedabad. Due to England’s rotation policy, we can expect a few changes that might also decide the game for them.
While on the other side, the Indian team might also make some changes that help them in strengthening their grip on the series. It will be an exciting match, as both the teams are still fighting for a spot in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
