Football

It was a game of legendary teams between The Red Devils of England, Manchester United FC and the Rossoneri of Italy, AC Milan. The match was a fierce fight between two of the oldest clubs in football history – with Manchester United scoring in the 50th minute through a solo goal by the new boy, Amad Diallo, after intercepting a brilliant pass from Fernandez.

However, in the 92nd minutes, the Rossoneri equalized through Simon Kjaer’s header from the corner, tying the game. This is the first of two games – and with a one-goal deficit, the red devils will be looking to make the most of their trip to San Siro next week, Thursday, 18th March, 2021.

Arsenal recorded a 3 – 1 win over Olympiacos in what seems like revenge against the Greek side after their dramatic loss to their counterpart last season. Arsenal takes the advantage into the second leg with this win and hopes to move to the quarter-final. While Tottenham Hotspur likewise recorded a 2 – 0 win over Dinamo Zagreb.

Italian team, AS Roma, too, wasn’t left out of the action as they saw off Shakhtar Donetsk, at least for now, with the hope of advancing to the next stage. However, the leader of the Scottish league, Rangers, drew Slavia Prague.

Tennis

Although Roger Federer started brightly, he wasn’t able to match the skill and passion of Nikoloz Basilashvili. Federer began brilliantly, winning the first round 6 and Nikoloz wining 3. In the second set, however, Nikoloz took the game to Federer to win 6 to 1. In was a tight one in the third set. Still, the Gregorian played with finesse and constant aggression to rush Federer and earn a 7 -5 victory.

Nikoloz, currently ranked 42 in ATP tour world for men, will face Taylor Fritz, who saw off Denis Shapovalov 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 for a place in the championship.

Even more, 4th placed Dominic Thiem lost to Roberto Bautista Agut (ranked 13th), who fought valiantly to win the game 6-7, 6-2 and 4-6.

Cricket

In cricket, the West Indies enjoyed a comfortable eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka, hitting a century. The first ODI of the three games series between the team saw an incident during the match as Danushka Gunathilaka, Sri Lankan opening batsman, was dismissed for obstruction.

An excellent century from Shai Hope – making up his tenth in ODI cricket – steered his team to an overwhelming eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first of Antigua’s three ODI matches.

Hockey

A solid team effort by the Boston Bruins yesterday as they won against the New York Rangers by 4 goals to nil. This was one of those many beautiful games with outrageous goals and domination by the Bruins after scoring in the 88, 37, 46, and 74!

Elsewhere, Carolina Hurricanes recorded a 5 – 1 win over the Nashville Predators, taking their victories to the seventh straight wins in a row. The team scored 3 goals in 2 minutes and 21 seconds; that’s a good show for a team that wouldn’t stop scoring.
